The company operates through Tourism Sector; Maritime and Freight Logistics Sector; Strategic Investments Sector; and Services Sector segments.

It provides hotel and destination management services, and inbound and outbound travel services; maritime and port services, freight forwarding and courier services, integrated logistics, and cargo services; and inward money transfer, insurance, elevator agency, and property management services, as well as operates as an airline general sales agent (GSA).

The company also engages in the power generation activity through wind, hydro, and waste; water bottling operation; supply of printing and packaging products and services; manufacturing of apparel; and plantations and corporate activities.

In addition, it operates a chain of hotels and resorts. The company was founded in 1868 and is based in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
