The company is involved in the transportation, distribution, supply, and commercialization of electric power; sale of natural gas to industrial processes or degeneration; and administration, operation, and maintenance of hydraulic works, electrical, and central systems power generators.

It also produces wood, pulp, packaging products, papers, tissue products, and personal care products; and leases its properties.

The company was formerly known as Sociedad Fábrica de Cemento El Melón S.A. and changed its name to Minera Valparaíso S.A. in 1969.

Minera Valparaiso S.A. was incorporated in 1906 and is based in Santiago, Chile.
